1. Open the liftgate.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Using a china marker/grease pen or equivalent, mark the areas where the liftgate hinge mount to the vehicle for use in re-installation.
4. Remove the boot (1) and disconnect the washer hose/liftgate harness.

5. Remove the B-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, B-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
6. Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, C-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
7. Remove the coat hooks.
8. With the help of an assistant and a suitable prop, remove the push pin fasteners from the rear portion of the headliner and gently lower the rear portion.
9. With the help from an assistant, support the liftgate and disconnect the prop rods. Refer to PROP, GAS, REMOVAL  .
10. Remove the fastener (2) attaching the liftgate assembly (1). Repeat on the opposite side.
11. Remove the liftgate (1) from the vehicle.
