Removal & Installation (1998 Talon Turbo)
- Drain brake fluid from master cylinder. On M/T, remove clutch fluid reservoir bracket. On all models, remove centermember assembly bolts. Remove engine mount bracket.
- Remove A/C compressor and A/C high pressure hose clamp bolts. Remove power steering pressure hose. Remove pipe and return pipe clamp bolts. Disconnect fluid level sensor connector, brakelines and reservoir hoses from master cylinder. Remove master cylinder. See Figure .
- Disconnect vacuum hose and check valve assembly from power brake unit. Remove fitting from vacuum hose. Remove brake pedal return spring, snap pin, washer and clevis pin. Remove power brake unit and gasket.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Apply Grease (2525035) to clevis pin and washer at brake pedal arm. Apply Sealant (3M ATD 8661) to fitting, and tighten fitting to 11-13 ft. lbs. (15-18 N.m). Tighten all components to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table. Ensure power brake unit push rod clearance is as specified. See POWER BRAKE UNIT PUSH ROD CLEARANCE under ADJUSTMENTS. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
