Description & Operation: CLOCKSPRING

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage and 1995 Eagle Summit. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Clockspring connects air bag module to steering column wiring, forming SRS circuit. See Figure , Figure , and Figure . Clockspring is a flat, ribbon-like tape of conductive material that winds and unwinds when steering wheel is turned. Because of clockspring's constant movement, it is the most fragile part in the system.
