Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair

1. Remove cylinder head as outlined under "Cylinder Head, Replace".
2. Remove yoke retainer and aligning yokes, then use tool No. C-4129, or equivalent, to remove lifter from bore. Identify lifters component for installation reference.
3. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. If a lifter or bore is damaged or if sticking is indicated, ream bore to next larger size and install corresponding size lifter.
b. Lubricate lifter prior to installation. Tighten yoke retainer screws to specifications.
c. Do not run engine above fast idle until all lifters have filled with oil and are quiet.
