WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 1997 Dodge Avenger, 1997 Chrysler Sebring, 1996 Dodge Avenger, 1996 Chrysler Sebring, and 1995 Dodge Avenger. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
If vehicle was parked on a slope or was non operational for a long period of time, air may enter hydraulic lash adjusters. Engine will be noisy during start up depending upon how much air has entered hydraulic lash adjusters.
If hydraulic lash adjusters are noisy, start engine. Gradually increase engine speed from idle to 3000 RPM within 30 seconds and decrease engine speed back to idle within 30 second. Perform this operation 3-9 times. If noise stops, bleeding procedure is complete. If noise does not stop, see NOISY VALVE TRAIN under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
