Removal (4WD)

  1. Disconnect exhaust pipe at exhaust manifold. Remove brace bolted to bottom of left crossmember. Remove transfer case-to-transaxle bolts. Move transfer case to left. Lower front of transfer case and remove it from drive shaft.
  2. Remove stabilizer bar link nuts at control arm and stabilizer bar. See Figure. Remove stabilizer bar link. Remove stabilizer bar mounting bracket bolts. Remove mounting bracket and bushing.
    NOTE: If necessary, separate right control arm ball joint from knuckle for stabilizer bar removal.
  3. Move left end of stabilizer bar out between axle shaft and control arm. Move right end of stabilizer bar until it clears control arm, and pull stabilizer bar from vehicle.
