Wheel Bearing

  1. Wheel bearings are not adjustable. Bearing end play can be checked to determine if components require replacement. To check end play, raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly.
CAUTION: Never allow caliper assembly to hang from brake hose. Always support caliper and wire aside to frame.
  2. Remove brake caliper. Install wheel lug nuts to retain brake disc on hub. Attach dial indicator to steering knuckle with tip of dial indicator resting against hub. Move hub back and forth while noting bearing end play. Replace components if bearing end play exceeds .008" (.20 mm). Install brake caliper and wheel assembly.
