Rack & Pinion: Removal

  1. Separate rack and pinion from steering shaft. Remove cotter pins and castle nuts from tie rod ends. Using Steering Linkage Puller (MB990635), separate tie rod ends from steering knuckles. Remove stabilizer bar bracket.
  2. Remove front roll stopper mounting bolt. Remove center frame member rear mounting bolts. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. Remove bolts connecting rack and pinion to front crossmember. Remove rack and pinion assembly.
