Manual Operation Of Automatic Seat Belt
WARNING:
When manually operating automatic seat belt, if system voltage is not removed from the seat belt motor circuit, an injury may result if/or when the motor starts.
NOTE:
Do not try to use the air conditioner while the sub fusible link is removed. This fusible link is also used for the condenser fan of the air conditioner, the air conditioner cannot be used while the fusible link is removed.
Manufacturer has provided a means of operating the motorized seat belt, if seat belt were to become inoperative. Remove sub fusible link No. 3 (30-amp/Pink) from fuse block in engine compartment (so that the automatic shoulder belt can be moved manually). See Fig 1 .
Locate access whole and remove cap. See Fig 2 . Fit the wrench (included with car's tools) into the trim hole; turn the wrench so as to move the sliding anchor to the installation position. See Fig 3 .
- If the movement of the sliding anchor of the shoulder belt is not smooth (if, for example, dirt or other foreign material increases sliding resistance of sliding anchor, etc.), or if it stops before its movement is complete, or if problem cannot be resolved, the shoulder belt must be replaced as a complete assembly.
- If the outside air temperature is low, the time required for the operation of the sliding anchor will become longer; this is not a malfunction. If the temperature increases, the time will shorten. In order to maintain smooth operation of the seat belt, be sure to use it after first passing the webbing through the guide. See Fig 4 . If the belt does not fully retract, pull it out and check for kinks or twists. Then make sure that it remains untwisted as it retracts. Be sure that the latch plate is at the stowed position.
NOTE:
If the shoulder belt and/or seat belt becomes scarred or otherwise damaged, replace belts as a complete assembly.
