Lash Adjuster: Inspection

  1. To check lash adjuster operation, warm engine to normal operating temperature. Turn engine off. Remove valve cover. Press downward on area of rocker arm contacting lash adjuster.
  2. If firm pressure if felt, lash adjuster is okay. If rocker arm depresses fully, replace lash adjuster. If spongy feeling exists, air probably exists due to insufficient oil supply. Correct oil problem. Run engine to bleed air from lash adjusters.
