Cylinder Head: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW head gasket with identification mark at front (timing belt) and top side of cylinder block. See Fig 1. DO NOT  apply sealant to head gasket.
  2. Tighten head bolts to specification in proper sequence. See Figure. Apply sealant to inside of semi-circular packing and cylinder head before installing. Lubricate injector and fuel line "O" rings with engine oil before installing. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Use NEW exhaust pipe nuts. Use NEW gaskets and seals on oil lines for turbo. Apply oil to flared portion of water inlet pipe for turbo before installing on cylinder block. Pour clean oil in turbo before installing oil supply line.
  4. Apply sealant at valve cover gasket-to-camshaft bearing cap contact areas before installing. Apply sealant to inside of semi-circular packing and cylinder head before installing. Fill cooling system, and adjust control cables.
