Remove the timing belt from the camshaft sprockets. Refer to TIMING BELTS . If removing camshaft sprockets, place wrench on hex area of camshaft, between journals No. 2 and 3, to hold camshaft while removing camshaft sprocket bolt. Remove camshaft sprocket bolts, and remove sprockets.
CAUTION:
Note direction and location of bearing caps before removing. All bearing caps, except bearing cap No. 1, are numbered for location. All bearing caps are stamped with either "I" for intake camshaft or "E" for exhaust camshaft.
