Suspension - Rear (2WD): Description

Rear suspension consists of an axle crossmember with trailing arm attached to each end. See Fig 1. Trailing arms pivot on mounting bolts which attach axle crossmember to body. A bushing is press-fit into pivot end of trailing arms.

A lateral rod, attached between left end of axle crossmember and right side of body pan, prevents side-to-side movement of axle assembly. Strut assemblies are mounted between axle assembly and body. Wheel hub containing sealed bearing is fastened to spindle at each end of axle assembly. See Fig 2.
