Engine Lubrication System: Notes

All 1.5L engines use a crankshaft-driven oil pump located in front cover. See Fig 1. Oil supply for rocker arms is delivered from oil filter through passage to rear of engine to rear camshaft journal.

1.8L engine uses a timing belt-driven oil pump mounted in front cover. See Fig 2. Oil is delivered to hydraulic lifters from oil passage at rear of engine.

Pressure relief valve is non-adjustable, and is located in the front cover (1.5L) or in the oil filter bracket (1.8L). Refer to OIL PUMP & FRONT COVER .
