Removal & Installation: Engine: Removal
- Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Drain cooling system. Remove hood and radiator. Remove transaxle. See appropriate article in the CLUTCHES Section or appropriate TRANS SERVICE Section.
- Disconnect necessary control cables, electrical connections, vacuum hoses and coolant hoses. Disconnect fuel lines. Remove power steering pump and A/C compressor with hoses attached, and secure them aside.
- Disconnect exhaust pipe at exhaust manifold. Disconnect power steering hose clamp near front mount.CAUTION: If removing lower engine mounts from frame, mark position of mount before removing. Mounts must be installed in original locations to provide proper positioning of engine.
- Support engine using engine hoist. Remove through bolts from engine mount near timing belt cover and rear engine mounts. DO NOT remove engine mounts from frame. Remove engine assembly.
