Removal & Installation: Speedometer: Installation
- Position speedometer to rear of faceplate assembly and secure with screws. On speedometer face, gently place bushing onto speedometer shaft. Grasp speedometer pointer by hub, and position onto shaft with pointer tip indicating about 90 MPH (140 KPH).
- Gently push down on pointer hub while rotating pointer assembly counterclockwise (a slight resistance should be felt). Clearance between hub underside and dial surface should be .020-.060" (.50-1.52 mm) BEFORE pointer tip is aligned with the zero horizontal graduation.
- Stop rotating when pointer tip aligns with zero horizontal graduation. If pointer tip DOES NOT align with zero horizontal graduation, perform either of the 2 following steps:
- If pointer tip is too high, continue rotating counterclockwise until alignment is achieved. Repeat installation procedure if necessary.
- If pointer tip is below zero, rotate pointer assembly clockwise until rotational resistance is felt. Continue rotating pointer in direction of resistance the amount needed to compensate for initial misalignment. Release hub allowing pointer assembly to rotate back to its reset position (zero horizontal alignment). Repeat pointer installation procedure, if necessary.
- Install Dial and Gauge Assembly to cluster assembly. Install Black mask and then clear lens. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
