Silent Shafts & Bearings: Removal

  1. Remove front cover and oil pump. See OIL PUMP & FRONT COVER  under ENGINE OILING in this article. Remove silent shafts from cylinder block. See Figure . Inspect silent shaft bearings for damage and proper oil clearance.
  2. If bearings require replacement, use Bearing Remover (MD998371) for the front bearing. Use Bearing Remover (MD998372) for the right rear bearing or Bearing Remover (MD998372) and Guide Plate (MD998374) for the left rear bearing bearing removal. See Fig 1 .
