Lash Adjuster
NOTE:
Lash adjuster operation should be checked prior to removing rocker arms. Checking procedure must be performed with engine at normal operating temperature.
- To check lash adjuster operation, warm engine to normal operating temperature. With engine off, remove valve cover. Press downward on area of rocker arm contacting lash adjuster.
- If firm pressure if felt, lash adjuster is okay. If rocker arm depresses all the way downward, replace lash adjuster. If spongy feeling exists, air probably exists caused by insufficient oil supply. Correct oil problem and run engine to bleed air from lash adjuster.
- For lash adjuster replacement, see CAMSHAFT & ROCKER ARMS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in this article.
