Intake Manifold: Removal
- Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE in this article. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Disconnect air intake hose at throttle body.
- Disconnect control cables, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses and electrical connections at throttle body. Disconnect PCV hose. Disconnect hoses at intake manifold.
- Remove throttle body support brace. Wrap fuel lines with shop towel and disconnect fuel lines at fuel rail. Disconnect wiring connector at fuel injector wiring. Disconnect hoses at pressure regulator.
- Remove fuel rail retaining bolts. Remove fuel rail, injectors and insulators from intake manifold by lifting assembly upward so injectors come straight out of intake ports.
- Remove support brace-to-intake manifold. See Figure . Disconnect wiring at ignition coil and power transistor. Remove intake manifold-to-cylinder head bolts/nuts. Remove intake manifold with throttle body. If necessary, separate throttle body and remaining components from intake manifold.
