Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE  in this article. Disconnect negative battery cable. Drain cooling system. Disconnect air intake hose at throttle body.
  2. Disconnect control cables, coolant hoses, vacuum hoses and electrical connections at throttle body. Disconnect PCV hose. Disconnect hoses at intake manifold.
  3. Remove throttle body support brace. Wrap fuel lines with shop towel and disconnect fuel lines at fuel rail. Disconnect wiring connector at fuel injector wiring. Disconnect hoses at pressure regulator.
  4. Remove fuel rail retaining bolts. Remove fuel rail, injectors and insulators from intake manifold by lifting assembly upward so injectors come straight out of intake ports.
  5. Remove support brace-to-intake manifold. See Figure . Disconnect wiring at ignition coil and power transistor. Remove intake manifold-to-cylinder head bolts/nuts. Remove intake manifold with throttle body. If necessary, separate throttle body and remaining components from intake manifold.
