Removal & Installation: Engine: Removal
- Disconnect Black/White wire fuel pump connector at rear side of fuel tank. Start and operate engine until it stops.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Reinstall fuel pump connector. Drain cooling system. Remove hood and radiator. Remove transaxle. See appropriate CLUTCHES or AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION REMOVAL article.
- Disconnect necessary control cables, electrical connections, vacuum hoses and coolant hoses. Disconnect fuel lines. Remove power steering pump and A/C compressor with hoses attached, and secure aside.
- Disconnect exhaust pipe at exhaust manifold. On 2.0L models, disconnect oil cooler hoses. Disconnect power steering hose clamp near front mount near timing belt cover.
- Support engine with engine hoist. Remove through bolt from engine mount, near timing belt cover and rear engine mounts. DO NOT remove engine mounts from frame. Remove engine assembly.
CAUTION:
If lower engine mounts are removed from frame, ensure position of mount is marked prior to removal. Mounts must be installed in original location to provide proper positioning of the engine.
