Cylinder Head: Installation
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure new head gasket is installed with identification mark at the front (timing belt) and top side of cylinder block. See Fig 1
. DO NOT
apply sealant to gasket.

- Tighten head bolts to specification in proper sequence. See Figure
. Apply sealant to inside of semi-circular packing and cylinder head prior to installation. Lubricate injector and fuel line "O" rings with engine oil prior to installation.
- Use new exhaust pipe retaining nuts. On turbo models, use all new gaskets and seals on oil lines for turbo. Apply oil to flared portion of water inlet pipe for turbo prior to installation on cylinder block. Pour clean oil in the turbo prior to installing oil supply line.
- On all models, apply sealant at valve cover gasket-to-camshaft bearing cap contact areas prior to installation. Apply sealant to inside of semi-circular packing and cylinder head prior to installation. Fill cooling system and adjust control cables.
