Engine Lubrication System: Notes

The oil pump is driven by the timing belt and provides lubrication to the main gallery. Turbo models use a oil cooler with oil jets. The oil jets are mounted in oil gallery of cylinder block and spray oil on the bottom of the piston for piston cooling. Oil cooler by-pass valve is also used on turbo models. See Figure .
