Colt, Colt Wagon 4WD, Colt 200 & Summit: Installation

  1. If stabilizer link ball joint dust cover needs replacing, remove stabilizer link. Snap off clip ring and remove dust cover. Pack ball joint with grease and apply grease to dust cover lip.
  2. Wrap vinyl tape around threads of stabilizer link and install dust cover. Secure cover with clip ring. Ensure clip ring ends are at a 90-degree angle with stabilizer link axis line.
  3. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Stabilizer bar brackets are distinguished by identification marks stamped onto them ("R" for right and "L" for left). Install bushings securely in brackets.
  4. Position left stabilizer bushing so that bushing is on marked area of stabilizer bar and approximately 0.2" (5.1 mm) from the inside edge of the marked area. Tighten stabilizer link nuts until distance from end of bolt to nut is .12-.20" (3.0-5.1 mm).
  5. Tighten remaining stabilizer bar fasteners to specification with vehicle on ground and suspension unloaded. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of article. Check front end alignment.
