Removal & Installation: Speedometer: Installation

  1. Position speedometer and secure with screws. Grasp pointer by hub and gently place bushing onto movement shaft. Pointer tip should be indicating approximately 90 MPH (140 KPH).
  2. Rotate pointer assembly counterclockwise while gently pushing down on hub toward the dial surface (a slight resistance should be felt). Clearance between hub underside and dial surface should be .020-.060" (.50-1.52 mm) before pointer tip is in line with the zero horizontal graduation.
  3. Stop when the pointer tip comes in line with the zero horizontal graduation. If pointer tip DOES NOT align with the horizontal graduation, perform either of the 2 following steps:
    • If pointer is too high, continue rotating assembly counterclockwise until alignment is achieved. Repeat procedure if necessary.
    • If pointer is too low, rotate pointer assembly clockwise until rotational resistance is felt (this does not refer to contact with trip reset shaft). Continue rotating in direction of resistance to compensate for initial misalignment. Release hub allowing pointer assembly to rotate back to its reset position. Repeat procedure if necessary. To install cluster assembly, reverse removal procedure.
