Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 RAM ProMaster EV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Battery Chiller and Battery Chiller Shut-Off Valve are located upstream of the HV Battery in the A/C Loop. When no power is applied, the valve in normally open. The Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) monitors and controls the Battery Chiller Valve Control circuit. When the HV Battery requires cooling, as determined by the Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM), the BPCM sends a Controller Area Network (CAN) request to the EVCU which in turn will open the valve and allow refrigerant into the HV Battery Pack Module.
