Diagnostic Test

- ACTIVE DTC
- Test drive the vehicle making several stops.
- With the scan tool, select View DTCs.
Is the DTC Active at this time?
Yes
- Go To Next Step
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE STOP LAMP SWITCH FOR PROPER CONNECTION TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER ROD
- Check the brake switch for proper connection at the brake booster rod.
- Check all retaining clips are connected and not damaged.
Is the Stop Lamp Switch connected properly?
Yes
- Go To Next Step
No
- Replace damaged components and the Stop Lamp Switch in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
- CHECK THE STOP LAMP SWITCH ADJUSTMENT
- Check the brake switch for proper adjustment.
Is the Stop Lamp Switch adjusted properly?
Yes
- Replace the Stop Lamp Switch in accordance with the service information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
No
- Adjust the Stop Lamp Switch and retest for active DTC.
- Check the brake switch for proper adjustment.
