Theory Of Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2024 RAM ProMaster EV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The Radio frequency Hub (RF Hub) uses a high security encryption system called Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for the Immobilizer System. The RF Hub marries itself to the BCM, Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) and Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) with AES at first ignition ON in the assembly plant. Then the system marries the Key Fobs, RF-Hub, BCM, BPCM and the EVCU with unique secret keys for each vehicle. Swapping any of the married parts ARE NOT ALLOWED in this system. This DTC will set if an invalid key fob message is being broadcasted over the CAN bus.
