Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN AFTER VERIFY CORRECT COMPONENTS INSTALLED AND TRAILER TIRE PRESSURES ARE CORRECT 
    1. Check for and remove any non-FCC compliant components.
    2. Verify that all tire pressures are to the recommended cold inflation tire pressure specifications.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
    5. Test drive the vehicle at a speed greater than 24 km/r (15 mph) for 10 minutes in order to receive TTPM data and allow for the system to update.
    6. With the scan tool, read DTCs in the TTPM Module.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK TTPM AND RELATED MODULE HARNESS CONNECTIONS 
    1. Disconnect the TTPM harness connector.
    2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
    3. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
      • Proper connector installation.
      • Damaged connector locks.
      • Corrosion.
      • Other signs of water intrusion.
      • Weather seal damage (if equipped).
      • Bent terminals.
      • Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
      • Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
      • Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.

      Repair any conditions that are found.

    4. Connect the TTPM harness connector. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    5. Connect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    6. Connect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    7. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    8. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    9. With the scan tool, read TPM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Install a new Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to the appropriate Service Information
      • Perform the TTPM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

      No 

      • Perform the TTPM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
      • Test complete.
