Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Check the Hazard Warning Switch for anything that may cause a sticking condition. If no problems are found, Go to Next Step.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITIONS procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (L91) HAZARD SWITCH SENSE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Hazard Switch harness connector.
- Disconnect the BCM harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the Hazard Switch Sense circuit at the BCM harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the Hazard Switch Sense circuit?
Yes
- Repair the Hazard Switch Sense circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Hazard Warning Switch in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test Complete.
