Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)
REMOVAL
To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the IPC bezel from the instrument panel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Lower the steering column to the most downward position setting.

- Lift the IPC upward far enough to disconnect the guide pins from the instrument panel.
- Disconnect the IPC wire harness connector from the receptacle on the back of the IPC.

INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.
- Tighten the fasteners securely.
- Align the PROXI configuration data into the new IPC following the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the BCM Miscellaneous Functions menu.
