Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK THE ANTENNA AND MODULE INSPECTION 
    NOTE:

    The Digital Audio Broadcasting Antenna is service with the windshield. 

    1. Visually inspect the DAB Antenna/DAB Module for damage.

      Is the DAB Antenna/DAB Module missing or damaged?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  2
  2. CHECK THE ANTENNA CONNECTIONS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Radio Antenna connector at the Antenna.
    3. Disconnect the Radio Antenna connector at the rear of the Radio.
    4. Inspect both of the Radio Antenna connections and verify the DAB Antenna Module is torqued to specification.

      Were the antenna connections clean and module torqued to specification?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

  3. CHECK THE DAB ANTENNA MODULE CABLE 
    NOTE:

    Antenna reception testing must be done outside and away from man made structures or natural features to ensure all signals are not obstructed. 

    1. Connect the Radio Diagnostic Tool

      (special tool #9977-6-13, Adapter, Long RF RG-58 Fakra)

    2. Make sure one of the front doors is still open.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. Turn the Radio on.
    6. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  4

      No 

      • Use the Radio Diagnostic Tool (special tool #9977-6-13, Adapter, Long RF RG-58 Fakra) to locate the open circuit, repair or replace the DAB Antenna cable as necessary.
      • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST or BODY VERIFICATION TEST (EV) .
  4. DAB ANTENNA MODULE 
    NOTE:

    Antenna reception testing must be done outside and away from man made structures or natural features to ensure all signals are not obstructed. 

    1. Replace the DAB Antenna module in accordance with Service Information.
    2. Turn the Radio on and set the volume to 25.
    3. Adjust the speakers to the front and center.
    4. With the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.
      NOTE:

      A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs. 

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  5

      No 

  5. DAB ANTENNA 
    NOTE:

    The Digital Audio Broadcasting Antenna is service with the windshield. 

    NOTE:

    Antenna reception testing must be done outside and away from man made structures or natural features to ensure all signals are not obstructed. 

    1. Replace the DAB Antenna in accordance with Service Information.
    2. Turn the Radio on and set the volume to 25.
    3. Adjust the speakers to the front and center.
    4. With the scan tool, read the active Radio DTCs.
      NOTE:

      A front door must remain open whenever checking or erasing Radio DTCs. 

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  6

      No 

  6. CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS 
    1. Disconnect all Radio harness connectors.
    2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
    3. Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
    4. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
      • Proper connector installation.
      • Damaged connector locks.
      • Corrosion.
      • Other signs of water intrusion.
      • Weather seal damage (if equipped).
      • Bent terminals.
      • Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
      • Presence of foreign conductive materials on connector pins and terminals.
      • Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
      • Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.

      Repair any conditions that are found.

    5. Reconnect all Radio harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    6. Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    7. Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    8. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    9. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    10. With the scan tool, read Radio DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No
