Oil Pump Removal

  1. Remove the transmission from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL .
  2. Position the transmission on the clean, stable work surface.
  3. Remove the bellhousing from the transmission. Refer to BELLHOUSING, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the fluid tube from the intermediate support plate and bellhousing.

    1 - Transmission Oil Filter
    2 - Filter to Intermediate Support Plate Bolt
  5. Remove the bolt holding the transmission oil filter to the intermediate support plate.

  6. Separate the transmission oil filter from the intermediate support plate.

  7. Remove the reaction shaft bolts holding the reaction shaft to the intermediate support plate.

  8. Separate the reaction shaft from the intermediate support plate.

  9. Remove the bolts holding the intermediate support plate to the bellhousing.

  10. Separate the intermediate support plate from the bellhousing.
  11. Turn the intermediate support plate over on a work surface.

  12. Separate the oil pump drive sprocket from the drive chain.

  13. Separate the oil pump drive chain from the oil pump driven sprocket.

  14. Using pliers, compress the snap-ring holding the oil pump into the intermediate support plate.

  15. While holding compression on the snap-ring, use to remove the oil pump out of the bore in the intermediate support plate.
