Ball Joint, Suspension, Lower: Removal

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Remove the wheel mounting bolts, then the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to REMOVAL .

Remove nut (2) securing link to the lower control arm.

Remove nut (3) attaching outer tie rod to knuckle by holding rod end stud stationary while loosening and removing nut with a wrench.

Release outer tie rod end (1) from knuckle using tie rod puller.

Remove nut (3) attaching lower control arm to ball joint by holding rod end stud stationary while loosening and removing nut with a wrench.
Release lower control arm from the ball joint using a tie rod puller.

Remove the three bolts (1) from lower ball joint.
Remove the lower ball joint (2) from knuckle.
