Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. Record the Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    5. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) FOR DTCS 
    1. Using the Scan Tool, check the IPC for DTCs.

      Are there any DTCs present?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. ACTUATE THE WARNING LAMP WITH THE SCAN TOOL 
    1. Using the Scan Tool, actuate the warning lamp to test its operation.

      Did the warning lamp illuminate?

      No 

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE WIRING BETWEEN THE IPC AND THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) 
    1. Check the wiring on the CAN circuits between the IPC and the ORC.

      Were there any problems found on the CAN circuits between both modules?

      Yes 

      • Repair CAN circuits for open, shorted or high resistance condition.

      No
