Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
- Record the Environmental Data.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM INTERMITTENT TEST .
- CHECK THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) FOR DTCS
- Using the Scan Tool, check the IPC for DTCs.
Are there any DTCs present?
Yes
- Repair any IPC related DTCs.
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- Using the Scan Tool, check the IPC for DTCs.
- ACTUATE THE WARNING LAMP WITH THE SCAN TOOL
- Using the Scan Tool, actuate the warning lamp to test its operation.
Did the warning lamp illuminate?
No
- Repair or replace the IPC. Refer to MODULE, INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC), REMOVAL .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- Using the Scan Tool, actuate the warning lamp to test its operation.
- CHECK THE WIRING BETWEEN THE IPC AND THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)
- Check the wiring on the CAN circuits between the IPC and the ORC.
Were there any problems found on the CAN circuits between both modules?
Yes
- Repair CAN circuits for open, shorted or high resistance condition.
No
- Replace the ORC in accordance with Service Information. Refer to CONTROLLER, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT (ORC), REMOVAL .
- Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the wiring on the CAN circuits between the IPC and the ORC.
