A/C Compressor

WARNING:

Review the warnings and cautions for this system before performing the procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY .
  2. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
  3. Position the accessory drive belt aside. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the nut (3) that secures the A/C discharge line (2) and the A/C suction line (1) to the A/C compressor.
  5. Disconnect the A/C discharge and suction lines from the A/C compressor and remove and discard the O-ring seals and gaskets.
  6. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and compressor ports.

  7. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the A/C compressor (2).
  8. Remove the bolts (1) that secure the A/C compressor to the A/C compressor bracket.
  9. Remove the A/C compressor from the engine compartment.

  10. If necessary, remove the bolts (1) and remove the A/C compressor bracket (2).
