On Vehicle
- If removed, install the spring seat and valve guide seal over the valve guide. Refer to SEAL(S), VALVE GUIDE, INSTALLATION .NOTE:
Make sure that the valve spring is intact around the top of the valve guide seal.
NOTE:If the valve springs are being reused, reassemble them into their original locations. Number 5 cylinder exhaust valve spring shown, all other valves similar.
- Install the valve spring (2) and valve spring retainer (1).NOTE:
Number 4 cylinder intake valve spring compression shown, all other valves similar.
- Compress the valve springs (4) with the (3) mounted in the compressor (2).
(Special tool #10224, Adapter, Valve Spring) and (Special tool #MD998772A, Compressor, Valve Spring)
- Install the valve retaining locks (5) and release the valve spring compressor.
- Relieve the air pressure from the combustion chamber and remove the spark plug adapter (1).
- Install the spark plug. Refer to SPARK PLUG, INSTALLATION
.NOTE:
If the rocker arms are being reused, reassemble them into their original locations.
- Install the rocker arm(s). Refer to ROCKER ARM, VALVE, INSTALLATION .
- Remove the Camshaft Phaser Holder.
- Install the cylinder head covers. Refer to COVER(S), CYLINDER HEAD, INSTALLATION .
