Door Ajar Indicator

The BCM continually monitors the front doors, the sliding doors and the rear cargo door ajar switches to determine the status of the doors (OPEN/CLOSE). The door ajar indicator indicates when one or more of these doors, is open or is not completely latched. The indicator is controlled by the internal Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) logic circuit based upon the IPC programming and the ajar switch status  CAN Bus messages received from the BCM.

The door ajar indicator can illuminate regardless of the ignition switch position. The IPC will turn ON the door ajar indicator for the following reason:

• Ajar Switch Message Input  - The door ajar indicator will illuminate when the IPC receives a CAN Bus message from the BCM indicating a door is open or is not completely latched. If the IPC detects the vehicle speed is greater than zero (kilometers or miles-per-hour), and the ignition switch is in the ON or START positions, the door ajar indicator will be accompanied by a single chime tone. When the ignition switch is in any position except ON or START, the door ajar indicator will extinguish after approximately five minutes.
