Passenger Seats
WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
- Remove the seat. Refer to SEAT, FRONT, REMOVAL .
- Remove the side shields. Refer to SIDE SHIELDS, SEAT CUSHION, FRONT, REMOVAL .
- Remove the screw (3) and the retractor cover (2).
- Release the lower J-clips (2) and the side zippers (1).
- Lift the seatback cover (1) and remove the cardboard backer panel (2).
- Release the clips (2) and remove the armrest back panel (1).
- Fold the armrest down and remove the screws (1).
- Using a trim stick or equivalent, lift at the front (3) of the armrest top cover (2) and remove.
- Remove the armrest by pulling back on the release bar (2), and pulling the armrest forward.NOTE:
There are springs at the notches (3), and can be removed to make the armrest removal easier.
