Theory Of Operation
The Electric Park Brake (EPB) replaces the conventional hand brake lever by using a switch or push button. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module provides a fully automated control of the EPB actuators. The EPB system uses an actuator connected to the rear calipers for applying and releasing the rear park brakes. The ABS Module controls the actuator and provides smart functionality, recognizing when to apply and release the parking brake. To do this, the EPB system is fully integrated into the ABS Module. The ABS Module evaluates data from various diver inputs, engine, transmission, and wheel speed sensors, as well as tracking the position of the clutch and throttle.
