Pads, Brake, Front: Installation
NOTE:
Perform STEP 1 through STEP 6 on each side of the vehicle to complete pad set installation, then proceed to STEP 7 .
- Place the brake pads in the abutment shims clipped into the disc brake caliper adapter bracket.
- Place a wood block over the pistons, then using a C-clamp, completely retract the caliper pistons back into the bore of the caliper.
- Install the disc brake caliper over the brake pads on the brake caliper adapter bracket.
- Align the caliper guide pin bolt holes with the adapter bracket. Install the upper and lower caliper guide pin bolts (1). Tighten the guide pin bolts to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the caliper guide pin dust covers (3, 1).
- Install the brake pad wear sensor harness connector (1) onto the bracket (2) and connect the sensor to the vehicle harness.
- Install tire and wheel. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Pump the brake pedal several times before moving the vehicle to set the pads to the brake rotor.
- Check and adjust the brake fluid level in the reservoir as necessary.
- Road test the vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on the brakes and to seat the brake pads.
