Caliper, Disc Brake, Front: Installation
- Place a wood block over the pistons, then using a C-clamp, completely retract the caliper pistons back into the bore of the caliper.CAUTION:
Use care when installing the caliper onto the disc brake adapter to avoid damaging the guide pin boots.
- Install the brake hose to the disc brake caliper. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Using a suitable device, support the disc brake caliper. Do not let the disc brake caliper hang by the brake hose.
- Connect the brake hose at the wheel housing. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the disc brake caliper over the brake pads and into the brake caliper adapter bracket.CAUTION:
When removing or installing a caliper guide pin bolt, it is necessary to hold the guide pin stationary while turning the bolt. Hold the guide pin stationary using a wrench placed upon the pin's hex-shaped head.
- Align the caliper guide pin bolt holes with the adapter bracket. Install the upper and lower caliper guide pin bolts (1). Tighten the guide pin bolts to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the brake pad wear sensor electrical connector.
- Attach the brake pad wear sensor clip to the disc brake caliper.
- Install the brake hose grommet to the front strut.
- Install the caliper guide pin covers (1, 3).
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the brake pedal holding tool.
- Bleed the caliper. Refer to BASE BRAKE BLEEDING .
- Road test the vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on the brakes and to seat the brake pads.
