Vehicle Theft Alarm
The Vehicle Theft Alarm (VTA) is factory-installed equipment on this model. This system provides perimeter vehicle protection by monitoring the vehicle doors and the ignition. If unauthorized vehicle access or tampering is detected with this system, the vehicle horn is pulsed as an audible deterrent, and individual exterior lamps are flashed as a visual deterrent.
The VTA includes the following major components described in further detail elsewhere in this service information:
- Ajar Switches - An ajar switch is integral to the latch mechanism of each front door, the sliding door contact plate and the rear cargo latch. A hood ajar switch is integral to the hood latch mechanism.
- Body Control Module - The Body Control Module (BCM) is concealed within the instrument panel outboard of the steering column. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), DESCRIPTION .
- Instrument Cluster - The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) is located in the instrument panel above the steering column and directly in front of the driver. Refer to DESCRIPTION .
- Keyless Ignition Node - The KIN is located in the instrument panel just inboard of the upper steering column opening. Refer to MODULE, KEYLESS IGNITION NODE (KIN), DESCRIPTION .
- Radio Frequency Hub - The Radio Frequency Hub (RF-Hub) is in the forward cabin concealed by the headliner. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), DESCRIPTION .
- Security Indicator - The security indicator is integral to the IPC located in the instrument panel above the steering column opening, directly in front of the driver. Refer to DESCRIPTION .
