Reservoir, Windshield Washer: Description
The molded plastic washer fluid reservoir (1) is mounted on top of the right front fender wheel house behind the right front combination lamp unit on the right side of the engine compartment. The only readily visible component of the washer reservoir is the filler neck and cap unit (2), which extends upward into the engine compartment just forward of the right hood hinge.
A dark blue plastic filler cap with an International Control and Display Symbol icon for Windshield Washer molded into it snaps over the open end of the filler neck. The cap hinges on an integral bail strap. A rubber seal on the reservoir seals the lower end of the filler neck to the fitting on the top of the reservoir and an integral locking wedge near the upper end of the filler neck is secured by a latch to a plastic mounting bracket on the underside of the right hood hinge lower support.
There is a dedicated mounting hole near the bottom of the reservoir provided for the washer pump/motor unit. The bottom of the reservoir has two integral locating pins and the top side of the reservoir has an integral mounting tab that secures the reservoir to a molded plastic bracket that is secured to the reservoir and the right front body structure with screws.
The washer reservoir cannot be repaired and, if ineffective or damaged, it must be replaced. The washer reservoir, the rubber grommet seal/filter screen, the washer pump/motor unit, the filler neck and the filler cap are each available for individual service replacement.
