Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, create a Vehicle Scan Report and attach it to the repair order.
- With the scan tool, read the RF Hub DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- VERIFICATION WITH DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS
- With the scan tool select the Radio Frequency Hub (RF Hub) Module.
- Check the "BUX Deactivation Flag " status.
Does the BUX Deactivation Flag status show set?
Yes
- Verify that after market rims (without TPM sensors installed) are being used.
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL DTCS IN THE RF HUB
- Visually inspect the wheels for any non-FCC compliant components. Check that the TPMS fault indicator on instrument panel is not constantly ON
- Check the Vehicle Scan Report for any of the following type DTC faults to be active: C1501-XX, C1502-XX, C1503-XX & C1504-XX.NOTE:
The 'XX' value is equal to 07, 16 or 64 type faults that can be set.)
Were there any active type DTCs present?
Yes
- Diagnose and repair any related DTCs before continuing with this procedure
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK POWER AND GROUND TO THE RF HUB
- Disconnect the Radio Frequency Hub (RF Hub) Module C1 harness connector.
- Test the (A901) Fused B(+) circuit for high resistance by connecting a 12-volt test light between the Fused B(+) circuit and the (Z906) Ground circuit at the RF Hub C1 harness connector.NOTE:
The test light must illuminate brightly. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Test the (A901) Fused B(+) and the (Z906) Ground circuits to determine which one has the high resistance. Repair the (A901) Fused B(+) circuit or the (Z906) Ground circuit for high resistance.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all RF Hub harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all RF Hub Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Vehicle Scan Report, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read RF Hub DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Radio Frequency Hub (RF Hub) Module in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL .
- If this vehicle is equipped with a Steering Column Lock Module (BUX), it must also be replaced in accordance with the Service Information. When replacing the RF-Hub and the Steering Column Lock Module, the RF-Hub MUST be programmed BEFORE the Steering Column Lock Module (ELV) is programmed.
- Replace the Steering Column Lock Module (ELV/ESCL) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
