Diagnostic Test

  1. TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Confirm the following before proceeding with this diagnostic test.
      • Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply to this system.
      • Diagnose and repair any DTCs related to ABS speed signal, TPM mechanical failure, TPM signal plausibility or non TPM related RF Hub DTCs (i.e. Remote Start Antenna open or short) before continuing with this procedure and then perform the TPM Sensor Verification test. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST .
      • Verify the tire pressures are correct.
      • If available, attempt to update the TPM - RKE Analyzer Tool to the most recent version available before proceeding. Do not assume that the Tool is at the most current version available. Use of a TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool with an out dated version will lead to incorrect diagnosis and part(s) replacement. Contact the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool help desk for assistance with any repair or up dating concerns to the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool.

        (special tool #2046300080, Kit, TPM/RKE ANALYZER)

      Were the TPM system checks confirmed?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Complete all the TPM system checks listed.
  2. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE MECHANICAL FAILURE DTC IN THE RF HUB 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan Tool, read and record RF Hub DTCs.

      Is this DTC active or if the DTC is stored, are there multiple occurrences?

      Yes 

      • Go To  3

      No 

  3. TPM-RKE ANALYZER TOOL AVAILABILITY 
    NOTE:

    The use of a TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool with an out dated version will lead to incorrect diagnosis and part(s) replacement.

    Is the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool available, fully functioning and at the most recent version available?

    Yes 

    • Go To  4

    No 

    • Go To  6
  4. READ ALL TPM SENSORS WITH THE TPM-RKE ANALYZER TOOL 
    1. With the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool at the most recent version, select the specific vehicle line and model year.

      (special tool #2046300080, Kit, TPM/RKE ANALYZER)

      NOTE:

      If the incorrect vehicle line or model year are selected the TPM sensor will not respond to the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool.

    2. With the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool read the TPM Sensors on the vehicle and note the IDs and positions for each with the TPM Sensor/DTC table given. The ID read by the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool must match the ID written on the side of the TPM Sensor.
      NOTE:

      Depending on the version of the scan Tool, the ID can be located to a particular DTC by the sensor number or wheel position.

      NOTE:

      Refer to the DTC, Sensor Number and Wheel Position table.

      NOTE:

      The purpose of the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool is to determine a non responsive or missing sensor, and to identify the location of the sensor by the ID associated to the DTC.

      NOTE:

      It is a remote possibility for the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool to read TPM Sensors from a different vehicle, than the vehicle being tested. If the sensor ID read by the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool does not match to any of the IDs in the RF Hub, relocate one of the vehicles to continue proper identification, location and testing without interference.

      Does the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool read all TPM Sensor IDs on the vehicle?

      Yes 

      • Go To  6

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. TPM-RKE ANALYZER TOOL ASSISTANCE 
    1. With the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool attempt to read a new TPM Sensor (one not installed) from stock or a known good vehicle of the same year and model.
      NOTE:

      The valve stem caps used are specifically designed for the TPM Sensors. Although similar to standard valve stem caps they are different

      The TPM Sensor valve stem cap has a special seal inside to keep moisture and corrosion out. To visually identify a TPM Sensor/valve stem, the valve stem cap used is longer than what is used on a standard valve stem.

      NOTE:

      The ID read by the Tool must agree with the ID written on the side of the sensor housing.

      Does the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool read the new TPM Sensor from stock or the known good vehicle with the same year and model?

      Yes 

      • Go To  6

      No 

      • There is an issue with the TPM-RKE tool. Contact the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool help desk for assistance with any repair or updating concerns to the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool
  6. CHECK TPM SENSOR IDENTIFICATION TO THE CORRESPONDING DTC 
    1. Perform the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST .

      Was the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST successful and did values for the pressures display correctly?

      Yes 

      • Clear DTCs
      • Test Complete.

      No 

      • Confirm the correct TPM Sensor ID(s) were written into the RF Hub. If not repeat the programming procedure.
      • Perform the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST .
      • Diagnose according to the appropriate DTC service procedure.
