Diagnostic Test
- TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM CHECK NOTE:
The TPM Sensor Calibration fault is not dependent upon other faults being addressed first.
- Confirm the following before proceeding with this diagnostic test.
- Perform any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply to this system.
- Verify the tire pressures are correct.
- If available, attempt to update the TPM - RKE Analyzer Tool to the most recent version available before proceeding. Do not assume that the Tool is at the most current version available. Use of a TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool with an out dated version will lead to incorrect diagnosis and part(s) replacement. Contact the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool help desk for assistance with any repair or up dating concerns to the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool.

Were the TPM system checks confirmed?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Complete all the TPM system checks listed.
- Confirm the following before proceeding with this diagnostic test.
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC IN THE RF HUB
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan Tool, read and record RF Hub DTCs.
Is this DTC active or if the DTC is stored, are there multiple occurrences?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- Clear DTC
- Perform the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test Complete.
- TPM-RKE ANALYZER TOOL AVAILABILITY NOTE:
The use of a TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool with an out dated version will lead to incorrect diagnosis and part(s) replacement.
Is the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool available, fully functioning and at the most recent version available?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Fully update the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool software and Go To 4
- READ ALL TPM SENSORS WITH THE TPM-RKE ANALYZER TOOL
- With the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool at the most recent version, select the specific vehicle line and model year.

NOTE:If the incorrect vehicle line or model year are selected the TPM sensor will not respond to the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool.
- With the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool read the TPM Sensors on the vehicle and note the IDs and positions for each. The ID read by the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool must match the ID written on the side of the TPM Sensor.NOTE:
Depending on the version of the scan Tool, the ID can be located to a particular DTC by the sensor number or wheel position.
NOTE:The purpose of the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool is to determine a non responsive or missing sensor, and to identify the location of the sensor by the ID associated to a DTC.
NOTE:It is a remote possibility for the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool to read TPM Sensors from a different vehicle, than the vehicle being tested. If the sensor ID read by the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool does not match to any of the IDs in the RF Hub, relocate one of the vehicles to continue proper identification, location and testing without interference.
Does the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool read all TPM Sensor IDs on the vehicle?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- There is an issue with the TPM-RKE tool. Contact the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool help desk for assistance with any repair or updating concerns to the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool
- With the TPM-RKE Analyzer Tool at the most recent version, select the specific vehicle line and model year.
- PERFORM THE TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST
- Perform the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST
.
Was the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST successful and did values for the pressures display correctly?
Yes
- Clear DTCs
- Test Complete.
No
- Go To 6
- Perform the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST
.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all RF Hub harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all RF Hub Module harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Vehicle Scan Report, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read RF Hub DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Confirm the correct TPM Sensor IDs were written into the RF Hub. If not repeat the programming procedure.
- If the correct TPM Sensor IDs are written correctly and no other TPM DTC's are active, replace the Radio Frequency (RF Hub) Module in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, RADIO FREQUENCY (RF HUB), REMOVAL .
- If this vehicle is equipped with a Steering Column Lock Module (BUX), it must also be replaced in accordance with the Service Information. When replacing the RF-Hub and the Steering Column Lock Module, the RF-Hub MUST be programmed BEFORE the Steering Column Lock Module (ELV) is programmed.
- Replace the Steering Column Lock Module (ELV/ESCL) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TPM SENSOR VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
