Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, clear all DTCs.
- Turn the Front Wiper on high speed.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display this DTC as active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITIONS procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK THE (W4) WIPER HIGH SPEED CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
- Disconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit at the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE (W4) WIPER HIGH SPEED CONTROL OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit between the Front Wiper Motor harness connector and the BCM C4 harness connector.
Is the resistance above 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the open in the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 4
- Measure the resistance of the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit between the Front Wiper Motor harness connector and the BCM C4 harness connector.
- CHECK FOR A FAULTY FRONT WIPER MOTOR
- Reconnect the BCM C4 harness connector.
- Connect a jumper wire between 12-volts and the (W4) Wiper High Speed Control Output circuit at the Front Wiper Motor harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Front Wiper Switch to the high speed position.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does DTC: B1021-12-FRONT WIPER 2ND SPEED OUTPUT - CIRCUIT SHORT TO BATTERY set as active?
Yes
- Replace the Front Wiper Motor in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
