Muffler, Exhaust: Installation

NOTE:
Never allow the muffler assembly to hang from the isolators. Muffler assembly installation is a two-person operation to avoid damage to the isolators or to the muffler assembly.
- Position muffler assembly (2) in the vehicle and support with suitable jack.
- Install the exhaust insulators (1).
- Position the muffler assembly (3) with the catalytic converter exhaust pipe and hand tighten the nut and spring assembly (1) to the muffler flange (2).
- Make sure the muffler/tailpipe assembly is correctly positioned and the properly aligned. The minimum clearance between components is 25 mm (1 inch).
- Tighten the catalytic converter exhaust pipe nuts to specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the right hand exhaust tip. Refer to RESONATOR, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
- Install the left hand resonator. Refer to RESONATOR, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Start the engine and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
