Shifter background Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) will be disabled (off).
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be Active on the on the first trip that the diagnostic fails.
Gear selection will not be available.
Gear Selector indicator LEDs will blink.
Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) solenoid will be disabled. Gear Selector could be locked in PARK or NEUTRAL.
The DTC will transition to Stored on the next ignition cycle (CAN is awake) if the failure is no longer present.
A Stored DTC can only be cleared with the scan tool.
The ESM will send Signal Not Available (SNA) messages out on the Controller Area Network (CAN) C bus and the CAN Dedicated Powertrain (DPT) bus.
