Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.

Is the DTC active or pending?

      Yes

      • Go To  2

      No

  2. SUPERCHARGER INLET PRESSURE SENSOR
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor harness connector.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With a scan tool, read DTCs.
      NOTE:

The P012D-TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER INLET AIR PRESSURE SENSOR CIRCUIT 1 HIGH DTC should be active or pending with the Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor harness connector unplugged.

Does the scan tool display as described above?

      Yes

      • Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the Throttle Outlet Pressure Sensor and Powertrain Control Module connectors. Replace the Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor if no problems were found in the connectors. Refer to SENSOR, TMAP-INTAKE MANIFOLD, REMOVAL .
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE (K1) SUPERCHARGER INLET TEMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the PCM C2 harness connector.
    3. Check for continuity between ground and the (K1) Supercharger Inlet Temp Signal circuit at the Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor harness connector.

Is there continuity between ground and the (K1) Supercharger Inlet Temp Signal circuit?

      Yes

      • Repair the (K1) Supercharger Inlet Temp Signal circuit for a short to ground.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK FOR THE (K1) SUPERCHARGER INLET TEMP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO THE (K900) SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
    1. Check for continuity between the (K1) Supercharger Inlet Temp Signal circuit and the (K900) Sensor Ground circuit in the Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor harness connector.

Is there continuity between the (K1) Supercharger Inlet Temp Signal circuit and the (K900) Sensor Ground circuit?

      Yes

      • Repair the (K21) Supercharger Inlet Temp Signal circuit for a short to the (K900) Sensor Ground circuit.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No

      • Go To  5
  5. POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
    1. Using the wiring diagram/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors between the Supercharger Inlet Pressure Sensor and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
    2. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires.
    3. Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.
    4. Monitor the scan tool data relative to this circuit and wiggle test the wiring and connectors.
    5. Look for the data to change or for the DTC to reset during the wiggle test.
    6. Perform any Service Bulletins that may apply.

      Were any problems found?

      Yes

      No
